□ PCMO (Director Min Cho) announced that on November 17 (Friday), a portion of the participants in the '2023 Hwasun International Vaccine and Immunotherapy Forum' were provided with an introduction to the center and a facility tour.
□ From November 16 (Thursday) to 17 (Friday), the '2023 Hwasun International Vaccine and Immunotherapy Forum' was held at Hwanim Culture and Sports Center in Hwasun for two days under the theme of 'New Technologies for Future Vaccines and Immunotherapy.'
□ The forum, held over two days, attracted a crowd of government, industry, university, and research institute professionals in the pharmaceutical and bio-industry. Institutions and companies in Hwasun Medical-Bio Cluster operated booths to promote research outcomes and services.
□ On the second day, November 17 (Friday) afternoon, about 130 people, including officials from industry, university, research, and government, visited the center. They received an introduction to the facilities and toured the manufacture, quality management, and R&D facilities.
□ During the on-site tour, participants followed hygiene and dress code regulations in a clean booth.
□ PCMO started construction and operation within the Hwasun Vaccine Industry Zone in 2020, with a total project cost of 83.6 billion KRW through the 'Vaccine Global Industrialization Infrastructure Construction Project' led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Jeollanam-do, and Hwasun-gun. Utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, the center provides services such as 'Microbial Cultivation-based CDMO, Cell Bank Outsourcing Production and Storage, GMP Consulting.'
□ Last year, the center received additional funding of 43 billion KRW for the 'mRNA Vaccine Validation Support Base Construction' and 24 billion KRW for the 'Microbial-based Vaccine Specialized Personnel Training' projects from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Jeollanam-do, and Hwasun-gun. Currently, equipment procurement and construction are underway, with the goal of completing and operating the 25-year mRNA vaccine production facility and educational facility.
