PCMO (Director Min Cho, hereafter the Center) will hold a three-week education and practical training program on bio-pharmaceuticals and GMP for bio department students in Gwangju and Jeonnam, starting from January 8th.

The education will be conducted at the center in Hwasun, with practitioners delivering lectures and providing hands-on training using materials created based on their experiences. The program aims not only to educate on theory, terminology, and documentation but also to provide students with on-site experience through practical training in manufacturing facilities and laboratories.

To address the shortage of personnel in the bio industry, the Center has been carrying out the 'Manpower training for microbial based vaccine manufacturing' since 2023, supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and Jeollanam-do. Over 40 individuals have completed the training program so far, and by 2025, with the completion of educational and dormitory facilities, the Center plans to offer education more extensively.

This particular education program, receiving support from the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Innovation Platform, is being led by Professor Cheolwoong Choi of Chosun University's Department of Biotechnology, and it aims to train practical personnel in GMP/GLP for bio-pharmaceuticals in a regionally tailored manner until February.

Chosun University's Department of Biotechnology and the Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of the bio-pharmaceutical industry in January 2023. In July 2023, they successfully graduated 14 individuals through a three-week education program.

Some of the graduates from the Center's 2023 education program have reportedly secured positions in bio companies. As the majority of the students are currently enrolled in university, expectations are high for an increase in the employment rate of graduates starting this year.
